History

It was 41 years ago this year that we started out with just a few tents, and much has changed since then. This is a list covering the highlights over the years...

1967	‘Veld & Duin’ literally started out in a wheat field with a few tents. That year ended up being so sunny that Bredene was soon overrun with tents.
1968	Things can change... All the storms and the rain washed or blew away many of the tents.
1972	The first sewer system was installed. From that point onwards, going to the toilet became much more comfortable.
1985	Goodbye antennas! Thanks to cable television, no one no longer needed to miss a single episode of his or her favourite TV show.
'92-'97-'02-'07	The anniversary years were all suitably celebrated with a big camping party.
1997	The faithful old gas cylinders were replaced by a gas tank.
2002	The opportunity came up to take over the adjoining ‘Zon en Zee’ campground.
2003	Belgium’s first air trampoline was set up on our campground. The perfect opportunity to bounce away any excess energy!
2005	A total of 23 renovated camp sites.. renovations works have started in former Zon en Zee!
2006	Renovation of 12 more camping places, relocation and extension of the playground, internet services for our guests.
2007	The end of phase 3 and complete renewal of the entrance with a grifitti wall, a canvas construction with meeting point, a foot path surrounded by green and a new admission control system.
2008	Renovation of our reception: we built an extra floor and renovated the reception desk completely.
2009	We finished off the facade and built an impressive porch.
2010	We are preparing 2 apartments situated above the reception.
